I know more than enough people in the military who were waterboarded, as part of training (my father was one of them, and that was during the Korean war era). They, along with John McCain, will quickly tell you that it's counterproductive because those who are being waterboarded will tell you whatever you want to hear, in order to make it stop (which includes giving false information).

If you think waterboarding saved lives and made you safer, why don't you take a look, back on the last 10 years while it was going on, at the freedoms that have been taken away from you? You can now be wire tapped, be searched and have your assets seized without ever commiting a crime.
